Solid Flywheel conversion kit (with pic)

Post by bangernom1cs »

I just thought I'd stick a pic of my recent Valeo conversion kit up here.
The release bearing was playing up after 236k miles so I cant really complain.
According to the garage lads the only real problem was the release bearing itself.
The Dual mass was still in reasonable nick as was the rest.Image
So how does it go?

Well no real difference after 2 weeks and 1000 miles of taxiing with no particular change in smoothness
of the clutch action itself.
If the clutch ever goes again then its a much much cheaper job.
So worth doing
The transmission has noticeably less whining but I now can hear other noises !
Will monitor........if I can hear over the latest round of clacking antirollbar links....

Mine lasted 210,000 but it depends on how its driven. My solid flywheel conversion is very slightly rougher at low 1200 - 1500 revs but i'm the only one who notices.

Mines been a motorway mile muncher to, so heres hoping for 200k for you too. The garage did say it was the highest mileage first clutch change they've done.

As far as I'm aware (& told)...
The Dual mass flywheel was original.
And there is no mention of a clutch swop in the history that I have.
The car was a lease car for its 1st 100k
The second owner did 65k in it
Ive done the rest.

The gearbox is playing up now so I need to investigate further.
The gears work but its gone a bit noisy since the clutch change..Either
no oil !...or the clutch damgaged the box when it went.
