Re: Project Besty... WARNING Contains Ford!
throw up a picture, its always good to have a look at a cupholder. Good that you agree with me on the terribleness of the 406s cupholders, all they are good for is a closed coke can, put a macdonalds cup in there and its just going to go flying once you move. And you cant put the armrests with a cup in place.

Re: Project Besty... WARNING Contains Ford!
D9's have cupholders? My D8 didn't have anything! I used to put my maccy d's cups on the ashtray bit and drive very carefully. Well it was either that or have very cold bollucks.406executiveHDI wrote:throw up a picture, its always good to have a look at a cupholder. You can see them in this picture, either side of the gear stick

they are good cupholders, and a neat penholder also. Ive ordered myself a foldy cupholder to compensate for the rubishness of mine.
If you loose them keys ill be very suprised

Re: Project Besty... WARNING Contains Ford!
Ah right, simple solution there, my uncles transit (smily one) didnt start with all the keys, immobilizer issues then kicked in, so the immobilizer got bypassed, it may have made the van easier to steal but he actually wouldnt have minded it.

I have to wedge a maccy's cup between the handbrake and the passenger seat

I might try find out how to bypass it and get an aftermarket thatchan cat1 alarm/immob to replace it. That way getting keys and having them cut will be sub £20406executiveHDI wrote:Ah right, simple solution there, my uncles transit (smily one) didnt start with all the keys, immobilizer issues then kicked in, so the immobilizer got bypassed, it may have made the van easier to steal but he actually wouldnt have minded it.

Orrr another option is to glue the RFID chip to the reader itself

The glue option there, a stroke of genius, mount it on the inside of the thing so it doesnt look unsighlty and its a tidy job.
I dont know if on your car you could just bypass the imobilizer, is its engine not controlled by an ecu, the transit we had did not have such tech in it so ripping out the immobilizer was quite easy.
For a bit of secutity get one of them key switches, use it to break one of the ignition wires, and mount it somewhere out of the way eg the glovebox, so you can choose to use it only if you park the car in a rough area.

Was going to fit a hidden switch for the fuel pump. You can also buy these...

Re: Project Besty... WARNING Contains Ford!
i think thats the same as that black vitara i bought what you get is 3 transponder keyrings and you have to push them against a socket which deactivates the immobilizer for 30 seconds so you can get the car started up, i opened one of the transponders up to find that all inside them was a transistor, so i actually tried it, you can trick the immobilizer by holding any npn trasistor on its plug. Though now the whole things ripped out.

Re: Project Besty... WARNING Contains Ford!
Best thing to do is get the key, then buy a cheap non-remopte key from Ebay & add it yourself. With most recent Fords, as long as you have 2 working keys, you can add another yourself, so once you'[ve got the spare one done, you'll be able to add the cheapy one to the immobiliser. That way, if you ever do lose a key, you can always add another cheaply. This is what I did with my Mondeos.Thats why I have the lanyard Thats the only key that will start the car! The other one wont. We need to get another one made up but struggling to come up with £100 for the key and programming right now

So I have to have one made up. Which is £75 for the programming plus around £50 for the key and VAT ontop of that

well then there is only one thing you can do.
Get it before the new year when the VAT rises.

I got one added to the Mondeo for £75 all in. Can be done by a qualified locksmith with the right bit of software.

Now heres my dilema... The mirror has a shiny black backing...

Do I put the blue backing on it, or do I get another black backing for the other mirror? Sort of think 2 black mirrors would look cool?
