Would it be safe if... (brake pads)

Now I'm very sfatey concious when it comes to the car as most of you know, infact I get stupidly paranoid if I know somethings wrong and even had anxiety issues when I knew there was a dodgey bush on the back of the 406 :rolleyes:
I ordered new brakes for the Focus and the pads turned up with a little damage. I'l let the pics do the talking...

Now as you can see one of the brackets on the back of the pads has bent slightly causing the clip to fall off. Would it be safe to bend this clip back into position and refit the clip?
Are there any sfatey implicatiosn if I was to do this?
Eurocarparts are sending me out a new set FOC but if these are safe then it means I got a spare set of pads

Have a look at the good pad and see if the spring is fixed in there. If it's just clamped then there's no reason why you can't put it right & use it (IMHO!)

Personally, if it was mine, I'd just bend it back into shape and fit it anyway.

you can always take it back if its not holding in there, most shops are helpful at dealing with faulty stuff.

Yeah me too, the pad is held in the runners of the caliper anyway.

Pad sensors are a waste of time! Once a week I jack the car up, give everything a quick look over, give the brakes a quick look etc etc. That along with a quick clean of the car takes me about 2 hours. Without the clean, about 15-20mins?
People who never look at there pads and just wait for the light to come on are even worse than people who don't check the dipstick until the low oil pressure light is on! The 406 had it's pad sensors cut? I never understood why though?

i never look at them provided the brakes dont squeak i assume its going well, i do fanatically clean the car though. And the dipstick gets checked on a weekley basis but my car has a oil level gague which works better as a spirit level because if the cars parked at a big enough tilt it affects the reading a bit.

I don't think there's any point checking the pads once a week when you only just fitted them. The wheels come off now and again and you should have an idea how quickly they're wearing. Last time I looked at mine was when I put my winter tyres on a couple of weeks back and I noticed they're getting low, plus the disks are wearing out, so I know I'll need to change the lot in a couple of months. I used to have a Montego which only had a sensing lead on one of the 4 front pads.

Guess which one never wore out.

Only having the one brake sensor is common OE standard now, mostly the N/S front inner pad but as you say the pads don't all wear the same
