Re: Suggestions to Peugeot
The rear of the 407 has hints of Aston about the C pillar.
Might try photoshopping a D9 style front on later.
Photoshopped 159 lights on a MiTo for the Alfa forum once

Re: Suggestions to Peugeot
why didnt alfa make that, the mito at the moment is a minger, and the punto fiat had it spot on, and they have ruined it with a stupid facelift, the bravos still going good.
But keep suggesting another one would be radios in the back which play through earphones.

sirwiggum: isn't there a thing the lights does called "follow me home"?
So, what should Peugeot do in the, er, D10 shall we call it?
Well it needs modern toys, like bluetooth phone connection.
The proprietary computer systems in cars peeves me. So get the computer sorted out. Why not just use an embedded OS like WinCE or a cut down Linux? Should make it easier to make cool consumer stuff like:
(Ask a telco for help -- they kinda do this in their broadband routers.)
Get the emissions sorted out. HDi used to be class leading but BMW have been making you look stupid for too long now. Don't make it fast: make it cheap to insure and to feed -- this battle you can win. This matters for fleet managers as well as tight Yorkshiremen.
How about pinching Citroen's suspension?
Otherwise, actually, I'm quite happy.

- show live telemetry data,
- Use Google Maps for sat nav (always up to date, no CD),
- browse and clear stored fault codes,
- App store for 406 ?!

Re: Suggestions to Peugeot
no pinching hydropneumatic its the fundamental difference between a c5 and a 406 the c5 is even more wafty, the 406 is supposed to be more focused for driving but all the other ideas are good.

Not sure. Mine doesn't.rwb wrote:sirwiggum: isn't there a thing the lights does called "follow me home"?
My gripe was the same as 406exechdis in that the blue icon for full beam is hidden from view behind the steering wheel!
Citroen suspension in a 406 coupe v6 would make a modern day SM

The cup holder is an ideal size for one of those insulated mugs.
Just the ticket for a brew when stuck in traffic on the way to work.
Another thing I would add would be an in car PC with MP3 server and 7" display in the dash.

With all these gizmos in it, you sure you'll have time to drive this super 406?

Re: Suggestions to Peugeot
That bit with the egg would be useful. I find it difficult to make a perfect soft boiled egg without it too runny or hard boiled.
An egg poacher would fit nicely into the cup holder moulding!
It would have to run off the heater matrix as the engine radiator seems to take forever to heat up on the hdi!

Re: Suggestions to Peugeot
Like someone posted earlier, a higher air intake on the D9, why the hell they put it low down in the front grill is beyond me. My local area is prone to a bit of flooding in severe weather, large puddles scare me
My biggest annoyance is the engine trays
Why couldn't we just have one BIG tray instead of two, which after a few years sag in the middle and look crap
O and sum decent clips or screws to hold them on, rather than the cable ties which I'm now forced to use.
I suppose the stupid handbrake setup and fake wood trim annoy me too. Other than these wee things I'm fairly happy with the awl girl, after a host of new parts over the last few months she is now kicking ass

Re: Suggestions to Peugeot
i quite like the fake wood, it suits the car, though i would prefer a more matte wood such as that found in the range rover, and this i suppose only works in the exec model for a more sporty 406 variant give it carbon fibre, or whatever trendy people prefer as an alternative to wood n leather. Another thing MORE POWER, peugeot have a 2.0 diesel engine with common rails, lots of electronics etc and all they got out from it was 110bhp.
Also 1 touch electric windows all round, and if you hold the key lock in for a few seconds all the windows etc close, a heated steering wheel, and a utility version of the 406 would be good, such as an estate with no back doors, or windows a van in essence with wipe down floors and seats, also more information for the mfd to show; a voltmeter, ammeter, oil pressure, turbo pressure and anything else, and instead of a big screen in the dash where the mfd is have it come out from the dash and fold up to reveal a screen, or do a volvo sat nav style screen that appears out of the dash.
Thats it really pop up headlights are cool looking things but wouldnt work on a peugeot so a pop up spoiler would have to do instead.

- An air vent in the rear with controls.= yep 407 got that
- Put a pair of proper cup holders and a storage box into the rear armrest, it will still be as comfy just more useful.=yep 407 got them
- A decent cup holder up front that can be used while driving.=yep 407 has a decent cup holder
- A air duct going to the glove box so it acts as a heater or cooler.= dunno bout heater but the aircon keeps her chocolate cool
- A 12v socket in the boot.= pretty sure the sw has but not the saloon
