2.2 sri turbo?

hi,just bought a 2000 X 406 2.2 sri estate.It is registered on the v5 as a 406 sri TURBO!!!! and was first owned by "Peugeot Motor Co" at Coventry. How can this be? Did they make a 2.2 turbo?

Hi there. That's a bit odd, you sure it's the right V5 for the car? Did you buy it off a guy wearing a sheepskin coat?

I don't think they made anything with a petrol turbo after 1999, and the turbos were 2 litre. Unless someone's done a serious amount of mods on it and actually bothered to tell Swansea... it might be interesting to see what Peugeot themselves think it is - what's the VIN number? All 406 SRi's used to be Turbo's so I wonder if it's just a data base error? Peugeot dropped the turbo charger when they replaced the old 8 valve engine for the 2.2 16valve which had more power anyway.

Simplest way to check is to peer down the back of the engine (or the front on a 2.2?) and look for a turbo and large air hoses and an intercooler up front.

It could be a 2.0 8v turbo which wasn't registered until 2000?

hi thanks for your input.I enquired in writing to peugeot motor co,coventry. as they were the first owners(employees company car)and that they registered it. It was a mistake on there part as they informed me, back in writing! that peugeot didnt make a 2.2 Turbo.(already knew) and there I was thinking that perhaps it was a very special one. Mind you I looked everywhere under the bonnet for that Turbo!!!!!! lol. Oh well, its still a lovely car, sorry, estate!!!!!
