do you mean a full respray of the door, or the whole car, it id be a big job having to strip the car down to spray it all, youd really need to like the car to justify doing that sort of work to it.

I remember my Dad taking delivery of a brand new Ford Onion 1.6i Ghia on a D plate (1987) and right under one of the rear door seals was a little patch of bubbly (already brown) rust. The car only had about 26 miles on it

It's funny but most people assume the engine is THE most important part of a car but it isn't, it's the bodywork, an engine can be changed but chasing rust around........

I wouldn't bother with a full respray, unless you plan on keeping the car a few years and/or have the cash hanging about.
Well I think I'l be keeping this car for a good while now. I won't be driving it back and fore uni so will be able to afford the petrol. Also found out the car's overfueling due to a dodgey lambda sensor and should be doing about 40mpg! Planning on doing it myself. My Dad's mate has sprayed up quite a few cars and they look pretty good in all honesty and I'm a detailer! I notice faults with paintwork, even ones you can't actually see  Try do as many panels as I can off the car in a gazebo.

Right I've sat down and with a Budget of £200 decided what I'm doing in terms of Audio.
I have from my 406 a set of JBL GTO627 speakers, A Sony stereo, a Sub Zero SPLX Amp and an Infinity Sub.
Now the JBL speakjers are good, as are the stereo and the sub, but the Amp is abit of a paperweight but it'll do for running a sub.

I'm getting a sub box from Car Audio Direct, this is around 43cm long, my Amp is 39cm long so hopefully it will bolt onto the back of the sub box without much of an issue. But I've decided to tidy up the amp anyway...
This is how it looked before...
Image
Now there are four screws on the top that were just there for show, I had to butcher one to get it out!
Image
This was the amp with the cover taken off...
Image
I rubbed the cover down with 180grit sandpaper...
Image
Now these are the screws that were in the top 'for show'
Image
I've fillered them in, plan is to sand them down, paint them mat black and just put them in hand tight...
Image
There were a few dinks in the top of the amp...
Image

Image

Now take note! Last years student card is great for fillering...
Image

Fillered...
Image

I put it on the radiator for an hour, took uit back outside, rubbed it down and gave it a coat of primer...
Image

That was yesterday, this morning it has dried and looked like this...
Image

I rubbed the primer down with 2000grit and wiped iut down with a MF cloth and some methelated spirits...
Image

And put down the basecoat ready for a few more layers of metropolis blue and then a laqure :)
Image

I'm hoping to create a system thats easilly removeable, but more on that in the next week or two :)

good work sam,

i wouldnt recommend putting the amp on the back of the sub box tho,

if the box was to move and rip out the earth cable thats not good,

My 406 has strapped the sub box down with some bungee leads and it never moved!
So the plan is not only bungee leads but I'm going to make a false floor and cut out the section where the sub goes so it fits in like a jigsaw. Also going to put the center of it on hinges so I don't have to remove it to get the spare wheel out, just open it up :D
Oh and on top of that I'm plannign something else for the wiring so it will be physically attached to the box and then a Vibe fast plug...
Image

So it can be removed and taken out nice and easilly :)

Nope im not actually joking im clueless about audio, ive taken car radios apart and can normally get them to work but have no idea of all the speaker stuff. All i know about my cars audio system is its JBL, I know the Amplifier is in the boot i havent a clue what it does apart from add £60 to the price of adding a parrot bluetooth kit, but i dont know what a sub is. Sorry about the lack of audio knoledge.
Ive found this page im going to take a read at it to understand all these terms:

Dont apologise, no need... We've all asked questions :P

Sub's basically add low down sound/ bass to the system. Rather than having 1 speaker in each door which handles bass, mid range sound and high notes the ideal system is a Sub, mid range speakers and thentweeters for the higher pitched sounds :)

ye a 10" is fine if your running the music speakers off the head unit,

i added 2 x 12s then realized running my music speakers on my head unit was a NO NO.

costing more money buying a 2nd amp to run them on 8)
