Re: Getting an XUD to start of Veg oil at -2 Degrees
That seemed like a right hassle to get the car going in the morning i just want to get in and turn the key, but its hard to beat the sound of life in an xud all the starting and you start to doubt it will start then it jumps into life. Though ill stick with my turn key, engine starts procedure.

Re: Getting an XUD to start of Veg oil at -2 Degrees
At the end of the day people can rip me for it all they want. It's whats needed to get it started in the morning! The water helps no end. The fuel hoses are run on the inside of the car which helps (moved them myself) but the hoses in the engine bay are still abit dodgey.
At the end of the day once the engines started the heat exchanger in the thermostat housing warms up the fuel nicley and then the fuel that returns up the tank probably helps too because it's abit warmer! It's just getting it going in the first place!

In the thread on pug306.net, he mentions how he's getting 4v at the plugs, dead relay me thinks!Gary406 wrote:have you not tried changing the plugs,
15 seconds with a jumplead to the glowplug rail has got to be easier (and cheaper!) than a bucket of hot water every morning!

Re: Getting an XUD to start of Veg oil at -2 Degrees
is the bucket hot or boiling, my old 205 used to take plenty of turns some times to get started but simply holding the key or in its case a push button until the engine fired up it got going there was about 30 seconds of turning but then once it starts coughing like its getting diesel and the coughing gets quicker and quicker it always started after that.

The hot water will certainly help if the veg is so thick and jelled in the IP/Injectors, but I think you have a glowplug problem and they need changing.
Its -2 at mine, and I use 10% Petrol and mine starts first turn of the key as I've just had my glowplugs changed.
I just use 5 litres of fossil diesel in the 50 litres of Bio and have no probs , though I think new glowplugs cant be a bad thing especially in this weather we`re having so far

If you have a 1.9TD, then pointless doing all the extra work and expense of making Bio, when it runs on WVO.Archangel wrote:Bailes1992 wrote:Yeh but hopefully the Pug will be part ex'ed this weekend so no point changing themGeordieBoy wrote:Did you say 60 ltrs of Veg and 10 ltrs of Petrol? Adding Diesel is also pointless, you need 3 times the quantity of Diesel to thin it than you do Petrol.
