a tip if your driving up or down a steep hill out on very icy roads in the countryside and you loose traction, use the grass verge its always gave me enough traction to either get up or down esepcially useful when the car begins to slide going downhill.

There were only 2 cars made it up our street (quite steep) this evening, my neighbour across with a 4x4 and my wife in our 407![]()
The rest are abandoned lower down.

It does amaze me how my Pug has such good traction in the snow had to go up a very steep hill yesterday and had no trouble whilst other motorists were sliding about and having to abandon their cars

HDI's are hardy enough to brave this cold weather, i really should buy a new battery but it will probably be better to get something cheap from the scrapyard.

Watch out for tree stumps.
I was exceptionally lucky to miss one last time I did that.

havent hit one yet, all the grass verges round here must have been destumped, but ill keep that in mind. But hitting a stump isnt as bad as sliding down a hill into traffic.

Yeah, better to head for the pedestrians, they're softer

We have quite a steep hill from our house to the main road in Tunbridge Wells. My trick was to stick it in 1st gear and let it idle up the hill. The wheels spun if I went anywhere near the gas pedal but in idle mode it was fine. Same on the way down for engine breaking.
