Broken digital signature.........ehhh

Post by trem1 »

Right then see if i can type this so's it makes any sense.I use AVG 2011 free version as my antivirus software and on my desktop running xp after a scan its got 1 "file signed with a broken digital signature" then some letters, and my laptop which is running vista has got 50 ........yep 50 "file signed with a broken signature"
Anyone know what this means and how worried should i be, also how should i remove/delete these or should i just leave them alone.
Where do i get these things from and how do i stop getting them??

Keep the answers simple please
Neil

Back when i was using windows i just ignored all them messages, the best way to deal with them, put mcafee on and there really is no need to care, auto updates no viruses, it did its thing and i never heard a peep from it.

Used to use AVG, but it let all sorts of nasties in.

Use Avast now, which seems to be better. Also makes a nice "Avast Virus Database Updated!" voice announcement when you login to the computer :cheesy:

Is that what that is, my uncles computer sits in the hall ands always left running but every so often you get
'virus database updated' in a slightly dim american accent, sounds like she just isnt fully there.

I tried Avast! once, I couldn't get it off my computer quickly enough

Incidentally, my mate who couldn't recommend Avast! highly enough was over here a couple of months back, he was shocked I was still running AVG and recommended me a few virus scanners to try because he was sure AVG was rubbish and thought my computer would be a mass of viruses, malware, trojans etc. He was amazed when they didn't find anything at all on my machine 8)

ok there might be some things, but macs arent as constanlty affected by them as windows stuff. But whats up with windows i have it running on bootcamp on this mac and to load up OSX and get on the internet can be done in 53 seconds, wheras if i open up windows 7 it takes 2mins and 45 seconds. On the same computer.
