Map Of Members

Post by waue1978 »

Is there any way of posting up a large map & have members mark where they are on it?

Sort of an online version of the giant map on the wall with pins in it. Thought it might be a good way of seeing if there are any members near you or may even help for organizing meets. Just not too sure if it's possible to do on here.

I've noticed that it's gradually starting to expand & take over the site. Is it a rite of passage when you get something added to Discopol's signature? You wouldn't want to type something you don't want anyone else to know because once it's added to the sig, it's forever immortalized & no post editing can ever get rid of it...

Looks like we need one of the forum administrators to install a nice phpBB plugin...

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=496246

Allows members to post their location on Google Maps, and it's designed to work directly with the phpBB software which this very forum is based on.

You don't need to post the exact location of your house :) You can post your town, which a lot of people already do in their signature or profile information. It's just that this phpBB plugin charts this on a map, so you can easily tell "ooh, there's a couple of people near me", or use it to plan a club meet, etc.

Well so long as the high-tech steal-a-406-to-order guy have the foresight to wrap the HDi / XUD in a blanket the night before...

Cb users are on google maps and i recall the fiat forum had a google map thing, i doubt there will be a gone in 60 seconds with 406s, you see nicholas cage in a 2.2 hdi coupe at the end, flying along then gets 'ANTIPOLLUTION FAULT'.

Lets see if this ends up in discopols sig:

DISCOPOLS SIG IS GREAT.
