Wanted: Radio/Temp display for a D8

Hello All,

This is my first post and I am new to the 406 so please be patient! This site has a nice feel btw.

I have just inherited a 1996 'N' GLX [AC] with the 2.0i engine. I believe this is known as the D8 (i.e. Mk 1 406). It is very nice for it's age, but I won't clog up the For-Sale board with my initial thoughts!

Anyway, one problem is that the multi function display won't light up. It displays the data, just very very dim. This is the type that displays only the temperature and the radio information, with the clock being separate, even higher up the dash.

After having levered it out using two flat headed screwdrivers, as advised on this site, I found the wires leading to the little board that the two bulbs are in were both broken. They are broken right by the little board, so I assume I need a replacement MFD?

Does anyone have one they want to sell please or advise who might? Some fitting instructions would be useful too!

The wires are snapped pretty much at the little board (i.e. < 2mm of wire exposed).

Hello Again,

I don't know if I am supposed to link to eBay but I noticed there is an MFD from a 1997 V6 Coupe that has a Buy Now for £4.99.

The only thing is it refers to the MFD as "clock/display" and there is no clock on mine (clock is separate, higher up to the left of the speedo etc..)

Does anyone know if the MFD for a '97 V6 Coupe and a '96 2.0 GLX saloon are the same?
