It's a 16-valve engine, I believe. 406's 2.0L HDI is 8-valve

A remap on the 110 is well worth doing. Gives you much more usable power. I have put my "remapped" file back on now as the original seemed too slow

Around 140 I would say. But I would definitely recommend an uprated clutch/solid flywheel. Although mine is old at almost 100k, it's showing signs of slippage when ragged hard.

TopDonkey is from Warminster - around 1 hour drive down A350 for you. Send him a PM and I am sure he'll help you as he has PP2000 stuff.

Unfortunately, due to some "personality clashes" he doesn't post on the forums any more :(

1. A pc interface to upload / download files to your ecu, (I use Galletto 1260, but others have done it with KWP2000).

Will either of these interfaces also allow me to diagnose faults??
No you need PP2000 for that, (but I see you have a possibility of local assistance with that).
2. A working copy of Ecusafe to convert your existing ecu file to 'no FAP'

Where can I get one of these.
There were some links posted on the coupe forum a while back, also on DigitalKaos, but I think all have been taken down now. I don't know how to forward a copy of a working install, but if you want, I can modify your file & return it - they're small enough to be sent as e-mail attachments. PM me if interested & I'll send a direct e-mail address, as you can't do this via the forum.

I have no problem with beating the ***p out of my fap but I would love to have all safeguards in place - if you know what I mean
All on the same page there. 8)

2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I seen this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KWP2000-plus-KWP2 ... 2028wt_907
It doesnt seem expensive, and by the looks of it does more than 1 car, but with my car 110bhp is generally enough, just sometimes i feel like i want some more. Can this device be used to up the power for something like a track day (technically off the road so i assume insurance wont care about it) then detune it again back down to 110 for use on the roads? Realistically how quick is the process of uploading stuff.

It will do lots of cars.

Take note of the comments about no gaurantee with anything on the CD's.
Be really careful with anything you don't know the pedigree of - you can wind up with a locked ecu that you can't fix, have to take it off the car to a specialist, (£££££). Also don't try it on battery power only with your laptop.

Make absolutely certian you have at least 2 copies of your own ecu file, on separate media, before you think about downloading anything else.

Realistically, you can take all the gear to the car and change the ecu file in about 10 minutes, but do allow a lot longer the first time.

One other word of caution - I don't know what form of non-volatile memory you're downloading to, but some varieties were only designed for a limited number of write cycles. This observation may be completely groundless, but it has persuaded me not to do it too often, (I've only done mine twice so far).

I make no apologies for being hyper careful with this kinda stuff, I'm not as quick as some 'experts', but I make less mistakes than most.....
