no washers

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Great system gary, all 1 full unit, so when the indicator stalk breaks its £120 to replace and thats the cheapest price i got, then the steering wheel needs to come off which i left to a mechanic, and because the first one was shite, i had to go to the mechanic 2 times for the procedure which meant getting charged twice. The only thing good about the com2000 is that it looks more ergonomic when in fact its a complete balls. But hopefully the one i bought on ebay is one of the improved com2000s that valeo made.

if its been taken out of a hit car at the breakers then the airbag light will come on, theres something to trigger the airbag in the com2000 i think. Failing that a wire isnt in right, but as for the squirters it could still be a bad com2000. Buy a new one its the best option, second hand ones are trouble

the joys of the com2000, the best bit of the 406, it was to peugoet as the k series engine was to rover. A BALLS.

I'm still amazed you have a 2001 car with com2000, kind of turns everything on its head. Any chance of your vin number? :supafrisk:

My 406 was 2001 with COM2000 and the same indicator problem.

I remember something about bad connections after fitting a new COM2000 putting the air bag light on.

Do a search for COM2000 on http://www.ilexa.co.uk I think it was on there.

I presume this guy Joe got fed up with us but it's been bothering me so...

Getting to grips with the engine fuse box diagram, data from this come straight from the BSI via the CAR1 bus then, for cars with rear wash wipe, it's relays R9 & R 10, powered by fuse F13. Both these relays are normally earthed, so it must fire one or the other relay for forward and reverse on the pump. It leaves on connector 16V VE (16-way green), pins 13 & 14 into cable 10PR. I presume on saloon cars with no rear wash/wipe one of these relays is unused or missing. So my next bit of advice, if Joe hadn't got bored with us, would be test the motor feed wires - they should both be normally earthed. Then if connector 16V VE is pulled they should both go dead.

Hi i have just been reading your posts and reply's i have just purchased a 406 saloon 53 plate i have the problem with the washers too but it's been rewired to a small switch to work them although i dont want this, mines appears to be the comms2000 but i have no wipers problem but i have an airbag defect warning coming on i had this on a computer but its showing no faults but it still appears when car is starting and airbag light stays on? after reading the posts i just had a look on ebay at a comms2000 one says that this also controls airbag do you think that if i replace the comms this will perhaps rid me of this problem? Also would i have to get an auto electrician to rewire the comms to as it should be when i replace it? Any help would be greatly appreciated

yes get a new com2000, and have it wired properly, its responsible for the airbag, but it may be possible for the com2000 to be repaired.
