Yup, done shitload with that setup, the shed it's in has gash windows too so everything is done at ambient temp so no danger of drop out afterwards. (bloody cold when you're doing it though!)

Yup, the longer the oil settles, the more much will dropout, meaning less to clog your filters.

Yep thats exactly right, dont have to go thru 5 filters tho. As many as you want to connect, aslong as you get it down to 1 micron.
I go thru 3 filters, a 50 micron, 10 micron and a 1 micron.

Filter Housings.

Engine sounds sweet, slightly higher revs on idle about 900 revs, on diesel mine was 700 revs,
touch of hunting when really cold -6c but fine after a min or so.
I haven't noticed any extra noise, the XUD loves Veg.

Yep its a huge saving. I get my oil at 50p a ltr atm, taking the p!ss with pricing but its still a huge saving.
Saving 75p a ltr atm, so 2500 is a £1,900 saving over the year. Getting it free, and using 2500 ltrs you'd save about £3k a year just in fuel costs.
