Snow chains

Post by rwb »

Or just don't go out?

Since Slough Borough Council do not deign to grit the roads (despite what they say) (not even the A4) getting the half mile to the motorway is proving difficult.

Anybody use them?

Are they impossible to fit?

What are them sock things?

I've used them, they're not impossible to fit (eh?) but it's not a bad idea to try fitting them in the warm 'cos they can be a bit fiddly, especially if you can't feel your fingers.

Those snow sock things look like they'll shred at the first sign of a piece of tarmac. These look a bit tougher http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trks ... Categories

On snow you don't notice but on tarmac - what's wrong with my tyres??!! Like constantly driving over a cattle grid.

Ive come to the conclusion that my 406 is the best car for the snow, ive been driving mine about and the level of traction is fantastic, i had to swerve to avoid a big stone or something that looked hard and the car followed the wheel precisley with just a bit of lift off at about 20mph, i really do like the handling of the 406 but i think the 110bhp HDI isnt properly exploiting this great setup

Obviously I'd have to take them off somewhere between home and the motorway.
Driving slow is better than being stuck.
