£300 for what is essentially exactly the same car as my old saloon is a steal. I bought my '99 1.8 LX from a garage for £1800 (£1500 + my old Mk.1 Clio).

The 1.8 petrol and 2.0 petrol engines are bullet-proof, they'll run and run. They're also surprisingly economical for such large cars; my 1.8 used to give me as much as 600 miles on a tank, cross-country, and that's not even taking it easy on the gas.

Put a new clutch on it and a year's tax/MOT and you'll get as much as a grand for it. Looks like she's in absolutely cracking nick too, which is more than can be said for my old saloon :(
