My old XUD ZX, I used to throw a blanket over the engine at night in the cold weather when the glow plugs were on their way out.

-9 this morning, struggling to start and I thought I might have to start doing this trick on the HDi

Just make sure to take the blanket out :)

I use a watering can (with the rose removed) and hot water from the kitchen tap. If your glass is clean enough it runs straight off but I did have a re-freeze this morning on the rear window (-9deg).

My missus tries spray de-icer but it won't spray when it's really cold - I think the propellant dies

I've been warned not to have the water too hot - the screen will shatter apparently. I washed the snow off my entire car the other day with hot water - I just have to shut off the boiler feed in the boiler house and open the feed to the boiler indoors and I get hot water coming out of the hose pipe tap :cheesy:

I've never had a problem with tap hot water <60 deg C, I've done it for years. As soon as it hits the screen it cools right down anyway (sometimes freezing again like today).

Boiling water can be dodgy though.

Well the cars are usually home overnight when most of the frost occurs

Ahh, there's nothing like coming out of the supermarket to find your car looks like a loaf of bread :( Then the question is do you put it away with snow on it or leave it out?

'07 Focus Ghia 1.6 Ti-VCT. I like it a lot, but not as much as my pug

Bought it brand new from Skinners, these pics were taken the day we had it, can't find any more recent ones.
