Tried mine yes'day at -7. Key in & start straight away, (without waiting for glowplug light), fired up after about a second & ticks over steadily......

- Maybe it's cos I'm using that cr4p from Asda people keep warning me about.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I think that sometimes mine runs better on the "full fat" normal diesel than the special blends like BP ultimate.

Started the car up at lunchtime, had been sitting 4 hours, -8 degrees, started first time.

In the Scandinavian countries they have a system where they plug the cars in to the electric to stop them freezing solid ; not sure how it works but its standard fitment on their cars I believe .

They have that in Canada too, quite strange to see parking lots with power sockets on every space :?

Kenlow do something similar, it's a heater with a pump which circulates hot water round the engine. I did a lot of investigation about them a couple of years back, then promptly forgot all about it when I discovered I couldn't afford any of it :(

My son in Sweden has this on his car, he has an electric lead at home that plugs into a heater in his car through a socket in the front grill.
He also has a socket at work in his parking space to plug into.

BTW, I just went out in my Expert HDi it started in 2 turns of the engine, it proves the problem was down to the cold, whether it was waxing or not i'm not sure, but mine started straight away after 5 days not started.

Its when the car has got cold right through that its worst. Like a very cold Monday morning when it had been standing since Friday.

Its the slowed cranking that I really hate. Gets me worried.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.
