Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I don't think you actually need pp for that, I think any Lexcia etc. code reader that can access the ecu can read & clear fault codes just the same.

Oh, don't know, I'm just saying it doesn't need to be anything expensive just to play with the codes.

Yes lexia 3 is same as pp2000 but at £130 plus I figured that if someone nearby has one I would save some money for ecusafe (need to defap the car also)

could u explain what u mean by de-fap???
d9 hdi 90 rapier estate
"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Thanks dogslife, I'm surethat I will take you up on your kind offer!
How do I get the file - do I need kwp2000? Or use ecu safe ?
Once obtained will I need kwp2000 to upload?
De-fap is to remove the particle filter in the exhaust (solves anti pollution fault)

How old is your car? As wiggy says, if it's newer than 2004 then pretty much any OBDII code reader should be able to read and reset your codes...

its worth a try in a conventional code reader first to see if that sorts it out then the pp2000 is needed

You need kwp2000, (or Galletto 1260), to copy the file from your ecu and to download the modified version.
Ecusafe is used for modifying the file 'offline' - DO NOT LET ECUSAFE ITSELF ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR ECU

ahhhh now it makes more sense!
If I download my ecu file with kwp, and get it defapped elsewhere - I can upload modded file with kwp! Cool!
Just need someone with pp2000 to erase faults - or will detaching battery for some time wipe ecu??
