Berlingo or Partner
Citroen and Peugoet both sell the same van, the only difference is the names. So exactly why do both exhist, and what would you choose. Id pick the berlingo and i dont know why. And as small vans go do you think its the best.

Re: Berlingo or Partner
I'd go for the Berlingo in van form or in Multispace car form - only reason why is because it's cheaper than the Partner. Admittedly the Berlingo Multispace does have some rather loud interior colour schemes, but you could still change the interior & have a cheaper car than the Partner would have been.
Plus I think the Berlingo is the only one that you can get with the funky electric canvas roof!

Re: Berlingo or Partner
what i like about the berlingo in its van form is its simplicity, to drive it feels lighter and more agile than the caddy. More comfortable also.
Re: Berlingo or Partner
We have a 2000X Berlingo at work for general run-a-round duties. It gets treated like sh*t but it never seems to complain and always starts first time if only it had the Hdi lump then it would be a little flier.

Market penetration, and shared development costs is the reason

Re: Berlingo or Partner
It doesnt make sense though, both peugeot and citroen strong well enough here, cant they pick one company to make the vans, ive noticed that all peugot vans have a citroen clone.
Re: Berlingo or Partner
If for arguments sake
4 companies made vans, and again for arguments sake they all had equal share of the market ie 25%
one of those companies now gets it's "sister" company to market the same van
you now have 5 companies, and "if" they all had equal market share they would all have 20%
the "sister" companies now have effectively 40% of the market between them instead of the 25% they had before
Thus, as said, Market Penetration/Shared Development costs

Re: Berlingo or Partner
i dont fully understand this, because peugeot owns citroen. Although ive thought of a reason to pick the berlingo, partner as a name sounds a bit ghay, berlingo isnt much better but less so, it just sounds french which means it sounds like a nice dinner.

Re: Berlingo or Partner
It's not just vans either, look at the Pug 107 / Citroën C1, the same car, built incidentally in a joint venture between PSA and Toyota at their TPCA (Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile) facility in the Czech Republic, hence the Aygo is also the same car behind it's slightly different bumpers.
If you look hard you'll find lots of examples of this... Fiesta IV and Mazda 121, in fact isn't the latest Fiesta the same car as the current Mazda 2???

Re: Berlingo or Partner
The bit that surprises me is collaborations that aren't within the same group of companies, like PSA and Toyota. We all know about component sharing within groups, just look at VAG; Skoda, Seat, VW, Audi all share lots of bits from floorpans and drivetrains to switches, I just find it odd when they stray outside the group. Ooooh here's another one for you, Ford Galaxy / VW Sharan. For that matter the old Citroen C8 / Pug 806 / Fiat Ulysse / Lancia Phedra people carriers, joint venture between PSA and Fiat.

Re: Berlingo or Partner
fiats vans are all the same as citroens. Then the renault, nissan and vauxhall van with the cab that bulges up all the same van.
Re: Berlingo or Partner
I'd buy the one which had the best warranty, dealer network and cheapest servicing! No brainer really when it comes to work vehicles

Re: Berlingo or Partner
I like to think of the berlingo as a good reliable van, there isnt any electrics in the old mk1 berlingo to go wrong.
Re: Berlingo or Partner
The only thing I didn't like about our Berlingo HDi is I got 3 points and a £60 fine with it
