Airfix Model Building

Post by FarmerPug »

For some reason i always get an aifix kit from some relative over christmas, its just one of them guarneteed things like getting socks. But how is it the finished thing never ends up like the one on the box, i took my time, used a knife to trim everything tidy and heres my masterpiece which was a triumph TR4A:

Looks quite terrible at the moment, but id forgive the ill fitting bits and pieces its the paint it just doesnt seem to sit on the plastic hence the terrible paintwork. Has anyone got any good examples of their work, or even worse attempts than mine, and do you enjoy building them, i think these are great fun.

Don't you really need to paint them before you stick them together? And spray, rather than out of a tin slapped on with a 2" brush :P

Just to make you sick, this is the sort of stuff my mate here gets up to (when he has time):

Loads more here.

I already posted what his dad does in his spare time

Been a long time since I've built an airfix model. You are right, they are great fun. My most successful model was a Harrier jump jet, wish I knew where it was, probably stuffed up in the attic somewhere

Airfix are hard to get perfect, but i have enjoyed them die cast kits, all the parts come in a bag and you essentially build a model car, my best one is some old BMW 507 which is a beautiful looking thing. Though really it was too easy.
