"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Yes, they're called "politicians", but more colloquially known as "bastards".

Re: VAT
As Adam says, pretty much everything you buy will now cost you 2.5% more. No you won't get paid anymore (as if!
). No DFS will never ever ever end their sale, they've just got another way to try to convince you that their stuff is good value 'cos shops could say "We've frozen the VAT on all sale items..."

Re: VAT
And where did you think the money to bail out GB was going to come from? Certainly not from HM Government's coffers. No, that's where the money will be going and it'll be up to you guys to sort the country out or not, the government will be too busy dicking about with all the extra cash they've swindled you out of.
Count your blessings anyway, VAT is 23% here and there's very little that's cheaper here than in the UK. You'd be amazed how expensive stuff like olive oil is here compared to GB and they bluddy stuff grows here
And just you wait until the Croatian government drags the country into the EU, that gravy train for corrupt politicians

Its actually a 2.13% increase in what you pay (1.2-1.175)/1.175.adamr8965 wrote:Plain english means everything you buy (expect food and kids clothes) goes up by 2.5% from Tuesday 4th Jan.
Not on Jaffa Cakes of course.
I believe that implementing a value added tax (which is a French invention) was a condition of joining the EEC and we are considered naughty for having zero-rated and reduced-rated goods. (There is a distinction between zero-rated and exempt!)
Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Re: VAT
Well, there is something I want and it's £99.99 plus shipping which is £6
Everything from them over £100 is free shipping, so i'm holding back on purchasing until the vat goes up
Anyway it will be a double whammy!
Price of transportation and production goes up, so net price goes up, then the 20% on top
