Heated Seat...Rather Cold

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Heated Seat...Rather Cold

Post by Rammstein406 »

Hey all,

My heated seats don't really seem to heat up very much at all. The lights on the switches work which leads me to believe they are getting power but they don't get warm....at all. Am I wrong and the switch lights work separate? Anybody know which fuse the seats run from? The seats are fully electric leather and all the motors work and have power. I doubt the elements are gubbed, wouldn't have thought they would be a heavy wear part...

Help my cold arse!

Scott.

On the contrary
They are renowned for failing where the element drops into the creases in the base
The heated leather seats in mine have the bottom element in mine gone

im going to point out the fact that both the front seats in my car get heated and my sympathy goes to you because them seats are proper cold with the heater off, i think steve or welly did a very good guide on retrofitting them.

Someone over on the coupe club managed to repair theirs, I think there was quite a few pics but I can't find it now :( They traced it to a burnt out element as Plod describes and they managed to rejoin it.

New elements are about 80 quid a pop from Pug :frown:

this is where rwbs idea of a wikipedia page for each solution would come in handy. But for the time being is there a link we can point our fellow 406 owner to in order to solve this issue.

Ah Jings! Here's me thinking it would be something simple like a fuse! :P

Is there much investigation able to be done with the seat still in place? I had heated seats in my old Volvo 240 and they were a Godsend in this weather! I'll have a look though and update progress! 8)

not really as it says in the book if they quit the seat needs to be taken apart, unless theres a loose wire under them, just hope there is.

saab probably invented heated seats, they were once really innovative, but then they got bought over by gm and the innovation died off.
