I wouldn't worry too much about the intermittent faults - I've looked at a few cars with mine and most have a glitch or two logged that don't seem to cause any problems.

Look on it more as insurance against paying someone else, who might not know that much, blundering about learning the system while you pay the bill.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

yes thats it, if i went to a peugeot dealer i would pay £70 for someone just as if not more clueless about using the system to tell me that theres something wrong, then compile a huge list of things for me to pay for and thats why they are called stealers. But now i dont have to pay that, and hopefully i will eventually gain the ability to use this thing, the current problem is i have to reinstall xp on my laptop. One thing though can this device be used as a general purpose fault code reader for other cars with an obd2 port. I have a neighbour with a renault espace with problems (no sh*t sherlock), and an aunt whose shithall zafira is displaying an Engine management light as well as consuming all its water very quickly.

Are you reinstalling XP because you need to or reinstalling from Vista/ Win 7 so PP2000 will work?
I installed VMware on my Win 7 lappy Friday and setup an XP VM from which PP2000 works perfectly

I use Sun's open-source equivelant to VMWare - it's called VirtualBox ... and it's capable of running OSX too (sshhhh, don't tell Apple)

apple wouldnt like that, their shiny operating system on something other than their own machine. Do you notice better performance with the osx operating system on your computer? Im going to download that virtualbox if its free, i wouldnt mind running xp while in OSX, its handier than the bother of having to hold in option when the laptop starts up.

VirtualBox is free

http://www.virtualbox.org/

Thing is, because I run OSX within VirtualBox, it doesn't get the full performance of the PC, so it runs slower that maybe it would if I replaced Windows.

ive got xp back on now, and reinstalled everything, but i was shocked to see these 2 in the lexia program:

did obd2 even exhist back then?
but more importantly, there is something on this that offers physical measurement, ie a voltmeter, and osciliscope. How do i get them to work?

now the dam software is fcuking about i double click to open it, the big peugeot window opens up, pretends to be at something then buggers off somewhere and hides. I could take a hammer to it, only its in my good computer.

all sorted again, i hadnt installed the software correctly, ive spent the day becoming accustomed to the machine, it is a very good piece of kit. I did the fault code reading, almost shat myself when i seen 'presence of faults' beside engine and ecu. Turned out to be the brakes which i already knew about so now i know it is really there.
Image
It also showed up some faults about the instruments, so it let me test every part of the speedometer, ie every gague, the backlights, the mileometer, and the warning lights:
Image
Image
all the usual options here, including traction control which ive turned on, you can also change the engine type, which i did since mine was set to petrol strangley :?:
then under the mfd section i had a number of options on it such as the way the date is displayed, if i want the temperature in centigrade or farenheight (which can already be done) and there is this:
Image
which makes the mfd look like this:
Image
its hard to see a point in this but it may be easier to read in the sun?
then theres the speed limiter option:
Image
this would be a good thing, but im not sure how to work it.
Image
Image
more impressivley are the additional options under the radio settings, i believe i can drop the volume coming out of the radio, but more importantly i can enter the vin number which i believe would unlock a vin locked radio, i didnt try it in fear of locking my radio out but it probably can unlock the radio.
all the ecu options:
Image
finally i turned off the service indicator, its only a gimmick of a thing in my opinion and something to have to reset.
Sor thats just some of the things i found out how to do, the pp2000 then is definatley worth it, mainly because it reads and resets codes, but it will also do tests for all the cars features, and if you want to up the spec of your car you can add things.
