fuel guage help needed

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

The most common problem is the float sticking - unfortunately it's part of the lift pump assembly & not available separately. Cheapest replacement is about £60 from Euro Car Parts, IIRC.

There's no absolute need to change it if your pump's OK - just keep a full can in the boot? It might be possible to take it out / free it off, but I've not heard of anyone managing it so far..

heres a solution the time my gague jammed on empty after a fill.
Park 2 wheels on a kerb, crawl under the car, and give the fuel tank a number of good strong thuds. Worked for me, its worth a try.

its probably the float as dogslife says mate,

i agree with him, keep a 5 litre can of diesel in boot all the time .

my uncle once run out of diesel n the motorway, his 5 litre jerry can in boot saved him from a hefty fine

Daftest way of knowing when to fill up I've ever heard of was to shove a golf ball in the tank - when the level drops enough for you to hear the golf ball bouncing up and down it's time to fill up. It probably works but, well
