Crap Heater

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Crap Heater

Post by mattyg »

Hi all finally got my freebie 406 on the road and i must say im very impressed with the ride feels like a rolls royce compared to the escort van ive been driving for the last 18 months. One complaint though the heater is crap everythinfg is working ok and the temp guage is around 75 degrees i realise that the ambient temperature is very l.ow its just that the escort one was tons better. Apart from blanking the rad wondered if anyone has fitted a winter stat to their 406 if so where did you get it and what opening temp did you fit thanks matt

Possibly an air-lock. The highest vent point is just as the heater matrix top-hose enters the bulkhead (engine bay side) yours might have air in there reducing water circulation.

Ford heaters are famously OTT in terms of heating - only the brave/stupid can withstand "Full Red" for longer than 10 minutes
