Puddle in passenger footwell!!!

Post by Peter86 »

On my way to work this morning i could hear a sloshing noise, looked over at passenger footwell and there was a pool of water, could have thrown a goldfish in there :(
It was also dripping out of both door pillars (where the sensor comes out) and the centre console where the light is. There was a small pool on in my gearstick gaitor aswell.

Now i thought id solved this, as i have taken the ariel off, siliconed all behind it, also siliconed all the backs of the rivets on the sunroof, cleard the guttering e.t.c I just cannot believe it, it wasnt even this bad before i "thought i fixed it". When i did have the "small leak" i noticed it was worse when i parked the car pointing down hill, last night we had alot of rain and i left the car pointing down hill, but like i said, its never been this bad before.

Have you any other ideas where i can look? do you think it could be the windscreen? :?
any help appreciated, my head goes when im chasing leaks

behind the doorcards there should be sealing sheets if not they will leak in that way, also check your sunroof that there are no holes round the track not fully sealed.

Did you clear the sunroof drains? I think you probably did so I'm wondering if rain water froze in them :(

theres a pair of rubber stoppers where the sunroof stopps, mine wasnt fully pushed in, i used the silocone round it, and pushed it in.

Cheers guys, im pretty sure i cleared the sunroof drains last time a was trying to find the leak (i think were the sunroof drains) anyone got any pics where they are?
And i went crazy with the silicone gun over all the rivets e.t.c
Sureley there cannot be many places it comes in, i think im going to have to strip the inside down, jack the back end of my car in the up, and get someone to hold a hosepipe on the sunroof
i cannot believe how much water came in last night

ok, take the headlining down a bit, ie grab handles, vistors and courtesy light out, tilt the headlining down and you will see the edges of the sunroof, hold a torch down and see if you can see light coming in, it might give an indication to where waters getting in. Dont go crazy with the silicone, just a neat tidy blob filling the rivets is all thats needed, plus the rubber track ends. I actually used stixall which is a stickier silicone thing, so it held them in place. The drain pipes, there is 4, 2 at the front, 2 at the back, the back ones go into the boot, and piss water out the back somewhere but if you park facing downhill they are unlikley to be the problem the front ones are at the extreme corners of the sunroof assembly, they go down the a pillars, pull the a pillar covers off its easy, the you will see the pipes going into the bulkhead, yank the pipe out as hard as possible, clean that nozzle at the end and make sure there is a good flow of water through the pipe. Once the nozzle is clean reattach it to the pipe, put a bit of vaseline round the nozzle bit where it meets the bulkhead, and push it back into place.

should do, the back ones might be blocked but if you park mainly downhill i doubt that.
