i believe its an auxilary heater option, basically a timer heats up the car, so its kept nice and warm on frosty nights, and free of a frost in the morning.
It's a bolt-on goodie, I was looking at them in conjunction with the coolant heaters but, like Rolls Royce, if you need to ask the price you can't afford it
The HDi already has an 'additional' heater on the heater matrix pipework - it's a set of electrical resisters which input heat into the heater matrix water circuit so that the heater works quicker on cold starts.
Cars in my care:
2021 Kia Spottage 1.6 Pez Turbo Dual Clutch Gearbox Trickery
2013 Renner Twingo - donkey work
My son has one of these in his car, he lives in Sweden where most people have one of these fitted.
You plug an electric lead from the house/garage into the socket in the grill and leave it on all night, when you go to the car in the morning there is no frost on the car and you have a small amount of heat inside.
He also has this facility at work in his parking space.
I had something similar in my BT Ford A Series, it ran on lpg. My dad's Flealander had one that ran on diesel (standard jobbie) - clouds of smoke

I'm not sure which cars they were fitted to, mine just has a heat exchanger wrapped around the egr pipe.
This car has the best warm up time of any car ive owned, until recently i did'nt know it had this warm up facility onboard mentioned above..........shame the 407 does'nt
seem to be living up to its older brother in many fields.
you know what ive thought about that and its a fantastic idea, the display in the manual is mounted in an awful place, and the heater itself could be better hidden but i like the idea of getting into a warm car. Where can i buy it.
A few years ago i had a mitsubishi colt gti with a cold start fault it was very reluctant to start. I fitted a kenlowe hot start these plumb in to the coolant hoses and are really easy to fit. As one of the previous thread said you just plug it in i had mine set on a timer and when you come out in the morning start the car and the heaters are hot instantly. Up untill the last couple of years i would have said that these are ott for our climate but ive been contenplating fitting one again only about 80 quid and are hidden in the engine bay. Plus they stop all that cold start engine wear as the coolant is already warm !
