ABS problem.
Hi guys, a newbie here with an ABS problem. The car is due the MOT tomorrow and the ABS light won't go off. I've taken out the ABS fuses from the engine and battery fuseboxes and the light stays on. Any ideas please? The idea was to disable the light until such time as weather/temperature/wallet were up to taking care of the problem. Thanks, Dave.
Re: ABS problem.
IDont think you will be able to disable the A.b.s light By pulling the fuses tbh,
the Easiest way is too take the clocks out and put a peice of Black tape over the Bulb,
Some Mot Testers -will Fail a car on the Abs light Even if its Disabled tho as they know what cars come with A.b.s,
The other option is is too bodge the board and wire the abs light so it gets its power off one of the other bulbs that go out after a few secounds so it makes it look like the Abs is working -this requires some Bodging and some soldering maybe,

Re: ABS problem.
You could always try fixing it.....
The usual problem is a broken toothed ring on one of the driveshafts - some people have managed to bodge them back together, as least temporarily. Its worth looking at all 4 sensors to see if there's any physical damage to sensors / wiring / sensing rings.

Re: ABS problem.
Thanks guys, I won't have time now to do anything to the car before it goes in for the test. I'll explain to the guy and sort of throw myself on his mercy. I honestly thought that if you disabled the ABS that it was ok for the MOT.

Re: ABS problem.
its a perdiciment, id fix it but with so little time to do it, a bodge is the only option, open the speedo clocks up and get a bit of tape over the bulb/led. and disconnect the mfd so it cant display the fault. Its a bodge which will hopefully do the MOT, but its best to fix it.

if it was the rings the abs light wouldnt be on, but the sensors or pump will bring the dash light on
