Those stupid auto wipers
Does anyone else hate their automatic wipers? They seem to always wipe at exactly the wrong time. If it's drizzling, they are going on full blast, when it's pouring, they go on strike. I've cleaned the part of the windscreen where the sensor is and it's on its original windscreen, so the sensor itself hadn't been disturbed.
On my Accord, I had a 'sensitivity' setting for the auto wipers but they were generally useless as well.
Is it possible to "convert" auto wipers into normal interval mode - perhaps with some help from PP2000?

Re: Those stupid auto wipers
i believe the pp2000 can adjust the sensitivity, but i love my auto wipers i have always thought they do it just right, they do drizzle right at a slow speed with no irritating click noise that intermittent wipers do, and when there is heavy rainfall they go like mad.

Re: Those stupid auto wipers
9 times out of 10 they're ok, it's that 10th time they could do with an off switch. Incidentally, I notice it says if there's a fault with the system it reverts to a conventional intermittent, so I reckon what's needed is a switch to introduce such a fault...

Re: Those stupid auto wipers
its a smart idea, but there really should be a sensitivity button somewhere easily accessible in the car for the wipers.

Re: Those stupid auto wipers
Perhaps a variable resistor in the sensor wiring. Hmm, might need PP to set it to over-sensitive first...

Where did you get that idea?FarmerPug wrote:i believe the pp2000 can adjust the sensitivity
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: Those stupid auto wipers
ah well it goes without saying that auto wipers and lights are a great bragging point when discussing with your mates who has the best car.

Re: Those stupid auto wipers
As I've probably said too many times, my mates here run a spares shop and garage, most of the bragging centres around who's car goes wrong the least

Re: Those stupid auto wipers
What can possibly go wrong with them, they are just dependant on a sensor, these things still worked fine even when the rest of my cars bsi controlled stuff went mad.
