Heater fan,

Took the car thru a Drive thru car wash last night, an Expensive one £7.50
iLeft engine running,
&Heater on etc,
Even tho the sighn on the wall says Switch everything off

After the wash Iheard a Gurgling sound and Then a Errrrr and then a whirring sound from the heater,
5mins later heater fan went into hibernation,
after an hour drive back it decided to burst into life,

Does the Pollen filters on these 406s get soaked,?
im thinking water as gotinto the pollen filter somehow and the fan packed in,

anyother ideas what /how the water couid of botherd it ?
im planning on stripping it all out but im trying to work out if these 406s are prone for water getting in too the fan etc,

Next time iwill wash the car my self -these drive thru car washes seem to be more trouble than theyre worth, £7.50 to either scratch your motor or too leave it more dirty than it started off when it went in is a frickin joke ..ar well thats my rant over,

drive through car washes your better off parking your car in the rain for all the good they do. I took my old pollen filter out and it was all black and mouldy and generally it didnt look good, it could have had anything on it weils, legionairs disease, perhaps even the plague, it was damp but not soaked. Ive never washed the car while it was running but perhaps theres a way for you to hold a hose at it and it will spray you with water. On my suzuki when it had an air movement system for the cabin i recall that if poured water on the scuttle and had the fans on it would spray water through the air vents.

Maybe when the warter is at a certain pressure the heater fan becomes like Noo noo of the telly tubys and it becomes a Hoova,
Iwill get a new Polen filter and change it and Avoid the car washes,

They are the Taxi up here,
theres millions of them as taxis, there mainly in white or blue and theyre always clean strangely,
interiors are falling to bits in them but they Plod on,

taxis need to be clean its just a rule, but hey its always a good sign to see a car as a taxi, it does show its a reliable car, you dont see many alfa taxis.

Aye they do keep em clean,
But they like cuttin corners, eg when they need a new Tyre the Fling a cheepo £15 part worn on them,
Theyre Commonly Bodged motors, there just a work horse too them,
Maybe one Day theyl move on too other motors and Then Maybe theyre will be atleats some parts left when ineed them in the scrap yards,

The taxis are Draining the poormans suply of used parts

I seem to recall seeing some ridiculous figure somewhere that said that something on the order of 70% of 406 saloons entered into corporate service (meaning company cars, taxis/private hire cars, and rental vehicles). It really wouldn't surprise me as they are good, solid, reliable workhorses.

I never use drive-through carwashes - I take my car to the nearest Shell garage and pay a couple of quid for a shot on their "Jetwash" service, where they have a powerhose and a soft-bristled brush that delivers soap. Does the job if the car is filthy; obviously not good enough for the detailers out there, but I don't have the space in my flat for multiple buckets and hundreds of bottles, brushes, pads, etc.

if i was in somewhere like belfast and i needed a taxi id pick the 406 one, they are much more comfortable than the only alternative them big skoda superbs.

and you get a leaflet that they stamp and wen u get 5 stamps they give u a wash free

saying that i dont think the pollen filter should get wet , mine doesnt

is the plastic cover in place properly ?

Yup £7.50 for a car wash but that incl, tyre shine, and the underfloor treatment, it needed it to get the salt offa it,
iwill be washing it my self infuture,

yup plastic cover is on the pollen filter from what ican see,

I took my car into a carwash near here last spring for a spot of love in the nether regions, all it seems to be is some nozzles under the car that sweep from side to side and I don't even think they were that powerful. I reckon a similar effect can be achieved by driving over a lawn sprinkler
