The Vectra has died

My family estate vectra has died in great fashion. Went for it's mot on thursday and failed on the follow.

Full Exhaust,
Front drop links,
Read drop links,
Front Strut,
Both rear struts,
Rear disc's and pads,
N/s side indicator,
Rear number plate,
Rear brake lines,

Garage quoted £600 to fix, i said bye bye. Rang the scrap yard they will give me £300 to scrap the car, plus i can claim the tax back about £50 quid.

So it's now time to go car hunting for a good estate car.

It was a 2002 estate 1.8 ls lpg. Good work horse it was 145,000 miles on it, and never spent a penny on it apart from tyres and 2 sets of pads. Not bad in 7 years from owing

or do the work yourself, only hard thing really is the brake lines .

Dont have the time gary to do the work, plus my knowledge of fixing cars is not good, i like using hammers to fix problems.

Maybe i could but i work around 65 hrs a week, and dont have the time to do it at the weekend. Nor does getting dirty in the cold appeal to me.

i tinker with my car in rain frost snow sleet,

any weather, if i need a job doing i do it

if its a 2002 with LPG it probably is worth doing the work on it, at them miles on a vauxhall petrol its to be expected

I could do but i dont have many tools and would spent a fair bit buying them, Its a pretty worn and tired car aswell, drinks oil because the lpg burn is dry and knacks the valve seals, although its been like that for years now.

I dunno what to do, If i did the work it would not be worth any more money so whats the point.

iscrapped a 02 plate last year gaz,
the market as fallen thru the floor on them now, there not worth as much as there used to be
there a Good old car but theyve lost there flavour,

Ipersonaly like vectras but iwouidnt have another one as they dont hold there money,

My mate spent £800 quid to get his x plated one thru the mot and 4 mths later he got £400 for it when he sold it

I share the opinion of the bbcs tallest motoring journalist on the vectra.
But scrapping an 02, are they really that old, i dont think of my 02 as being old.

I did look at trading the old girl in (the car not the wife) and got around £250 and £500 depending on garage.

its not about the age of a car mate,
its all about what theyre worth,
if you had a car and it needed £500 spending on it and the car was only worth £650 -£700 ish ingood state,
wouid you spend the £500 on it or scrap it for £250?
or spend £500 on it ?

vectras are just like cavaliers too me idont see anything good about them even the new shape veccys are falling thru the floor in value and the Yards are swamped with them

the problem with the vectra and the mondeo for that matter was so many were company cars which seems to make them loose their value more. It might be worth spending money on the car if you really like it.

I think if you end up with a car that's going to be reliable and trouble-free for a few years then it might actually be worth it. If it's obviously going to be a money pit then kick it to the kerb. I suppose the trick is knowing the difference.
