Some questions for the troops - V reg 406LX HDi 110
Firstly, thanx so much to everyone who has helped in the past, been a while since I had any major problems but I'm back and on the hunt for some more expert advice......
Q1... My stereo (aftermarket) stays on after key removed, just plugged it into existing connector, not cut/altered any wires (yet) = also swiches on when courtesy light comes on when door opens... and won't retain radio stations or settings
Q2... Was wondering what functions should be on the MFD as I don't seem to have MPG/Trip, I press and hold the indicator stalk but nothing
Q3... When I bought the car it didn't have the blipper fob, just the main key (no keypad) on my old D8 the central locking units (one with antiscan written on it) were located behind the glovebox, when I wrecked my last blipper I went to scrappy and purchased a key and the antiscan unit from a N reg 406 and syvnch'd them up - so had a fob with no blade that would remote lock the motor and fob with key to start it - can I do this with a D9 and where is the central locking unit located 'cos it's not where it is on the D8
Q4... My fusebox looks nowt like the Haynes manual, it also seems to have a secondary set of fuses behind the driver footwell fusebox. any ideas??
Cheers lads

I can help with some of that.
Q1. The wires don't quite match up properly unless you either a. get the adaptor or b. cut a couple of wires & reattach to different points. It's only the permanent live that needs switching, but ironically, it's easier to do when you have the adaptor as you can trace where the wire goes. Best bet is to get a £10 electrical tester (looks like a little screwdriver with a wire & croc clip attached) & find where your permanent & switched lives are. Then route the red wire (usually) at the stereo end to that.
Q2. On a V reg LX, you won't have many. Trip computer didn't get fitted to LX until 2000 - about the same time as they added electric rear windows, front armrests & wood trims on the doorcards.
Q4. Not sure about what Haynes say, but most of the fuses you'd need to deal with are under the panel you speak of. If you have the handbook, it tells you what's what in there.

Ok, scrub out them two as Mr Waue's answered them anyway.
Q3) Errr, pass
The schematics I have are for a com2000 car and it says the com2000 does this. Which I know it doesn't (I didn't have to reprogram anything when I changed mine)
Q4) Congratulations, you've found your BSI.

I'm afraid Haynes is it, unless you can read Polish...
The BSI on mine has a row of fuses across the front, it's behind the fuse panel.
Still looking for this receiver, I've found a box marked "BOX CDE S/G" on the parts diagram (6545 JL if anyone's looking), I've no idea what it's for so c/l is all I can think of. The diagram is a picture of a box with a connector on the far end with an arrow pointing vaguely at the middle of the dash
Along side it is another box (which has no part number) and a tiny thing marked "ABL sensor". Anyone any clues? (No, it's not A Bug's Life
)

Re: Some questions for the troops - V reg 406LX HDi 110
Actually, I have another question - when I sit with my handbrake on or my foot on the brake I get a sort of misfire on tickover, a judder even, could this be a b^ggered abs pump (doesn't do it if I take my foot/handbrake off) - I did have a problem with dribbling fluid (oooeeerrr misses) when using a pressure bleed jobbo after changing my front pads.... crap in the system?

Re: Some questions for the troops - V reg 406LX HDi 110
on the issue of the radio, it does sound like the aftermarket one is wired slightly different than the standard one ie its getting a permanent live when it should be a ignition switched live, adaptor kits can remedy this, but here is a diagram of the plug layout:

as for the trip computer youd know if you had it, the wiper stalk would have the button on it, and the trip computer if it is equipped in your car displays the following:
– the range
– the distance travelled
– the average consumption
– the current consumption
– the average speed.

Cheers m8ty
And as for the Haynes manual, in some respects it's a good reference but, in others it's as vague as Mrs.McVague from 55 Vauge Street, The Isle of Vauge

Re: Some questions for the troops - V reg 406LX HDi 110
your very right there, it doesnt go into the level of detail that we can go into in our knoledge base articles. If you want a fuse diagram i can give you the diagram i have found?
Re: Some questions for the troops - V reg 406LX HDi 110
Cheers pal but the fuse diagrams I've seen don't match the fuse box in the motor - might go up scrappy and see if he's got a 1999/2000 406LX in and have a shufties
