Just a quick point about a post made in the thread that Steve linked to........

Mintex brakes are made in Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, and are (in my area at least) distributed from a warehouse in Warrington....drove past it yesterday :D.

Good luck with the job Doggy....you will need a good pair of small mole grips and a good pair of side-cuts to help you fit the springs on the handbrake shoes, they are very awkward to fit.

Remember to back off the handbrake adjuster inside the car (10mm nut at the right hand side of the lever) and on the cable under the car.

Mark the position of the handbrake shoe adjusters from outside on the backplate to make it easy to find when you turn the disc.

Well, bitz finally arrived today, (despite Fedex's best efforts). Unfortunately, the 'handbrake shoe fitting kit' doesn't seem to be there.
Opinions please, (from them wot knows, or 'as has done it before), what chance have I got of completing it properly without these items?

Serious, (or genuinely funny), answers only please, to Doggy c/o Pugaholics Anonymous, The Rescue Mission, Norfants.

It probably doesn't matter so much as the shoes don't wear on the inside of the disk/drum unless the car's moving, so don't wind them out too far and don't try to bed them in. The only problem is you'll have to take it all to pieces again when they do turn up :(

Well, 6 hours of freezing me nuts off & I'm halway through the first corner. :frown:

Started at the previously pictured NSR, had to drill the pad retaining pins out and various other hassles.....
Didn't know you could buy a replacement set from the motor factors, which was a pleasant surpise, even if the price wasn't, (£14 + coalition tax).
Got the handbrake shoes changed - isn't fun re-fitting the spings?
Said noise might be related to no friction material on one pad and the 5mm or so on the other having detached itself from the metal plate.
More tomoz with a pic or two, if I don't torch the damn thing.

Beer, that's wots needed.
