Drop Link rear suspension terminology?

Post by Doggy »

Adsvisory on my MOT reads, "Near side rear upper suspension arm has slight play in the ball joint". Now I'm trying to find the right bit....

Image

I think item 6 :arrowu: is the rear upper suspension arm?

I think items 5 :arrowu: are the drop links?

Can someone confirm, please?

I think I'll have to agree with you there, it seems the only non-droplink bit with a ball joint on it... Might be worth seeing how much of the other stuff you can replace while you're at it without spending too much cash, like bushes and the drop links?

Yes, item 5 in the second pic are the drop links. It might not look like them (perhaps Pug had something more robust in mind  ) but there's dozens of pictures of the real thing on this here forum.

The drop link is number 5, but I think number 6 is the advisory item.

Hi all,
Sorry for dragging up an old thread like this but I was under my car yesterday and found that two bushes in the rear suspension were shot. The worn bushes are number 16 and 17 in the diagram posted above.
Anyways my question is does anyone know what the exact name and part number of these two bushes so I can order them, or even better caould anyone direct me to a page that has the corresponding info for the numbers on the diagram?
Cheers lads.

As per elsewhere on the forum Doggy, purchase a new nut and bolt (which looks like 10,11 &77)for the horizontal link(upper arm) and simply cut the old one off

16 is the rear trailing arm front bush.

17 is the rear lower suspension arm inner bush.

I'll steal this thread as well. Item #1 on the first picture, what is is called? And can I buy only the bushes? (79,72,13,12,78). Also while I'm changing everything back there - what is #15 first pic called?

Thanks in advance.
