Any chance anyone could email the ecu map files pls? coupe forum moderators have removed them :(

I notice everyone now says to defap software before physical removal... but I just got happy with a hammer and chisel on my FAP.
Will this throw the car into limp mode now, or soon as I put it back together and run it or will I have a 'grace' period to allow me to remap the ECU when giletto arrives hopefully monday.

If no grace period will I require the P??2000 diag kit to reset the codes etc? If so, anyone near St Neots, Cambs got one that I could have the use of for a beer voucher?

ta muchly :)

I can probably help you out on most, if not all of that. 8)

From your previous posts, I see you have a 2.2 HDi - what year / reg. is it? (really helps if you put these details in your sig).

My car ran OK without the FAP element for about 3 months, (as you can see at the beginning of this post), then went into limp mode. Least it's fixable now. :cheesy:

Hi all,

Sorry this is my first post and a begging one at that! I'm a coupe club member, have had a 2.2 hdi for the last two years.

Trying to get the fap thing sorted out this evening, I'm off on holiday for a week in about 6 hours time, and I have a mechanic who will remove the blasted filter if I can get the ECU sorted in this time. I have a galetto cable, and two versions of ecu safe. I can't unzip the ecu safe files though as I don't have the decompression passwords, and I don't have the defapped ecu map.

I wonder if anyone could help me out with either of these?

Many thanks

Ben

If you can get back to me quickly, I might have a file you can use, but I'm going out at 8:45....

Need to know what year / month your car is and a direct e-mail address......

Doggie,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for not getting back to you the other night. The galetto cable was throwing up funny faults when I was trying to extract the current file from the car, so I decided probably best to leave it till I'm back from France - doesn't seem to be something you want to rush into and make a mess of.

My car is a second half of 2002 coupe. My email address is ben dot watson at doctors dot org dot uk. If you have the file that'd be amazing.

Many thanks for your help.

Elementary, my dear Watson.

You have e-mail. :)

BTW I think you're absolutely right to be cautious - if it stops in the middle of a download it may lock the ecu.

Which reminds me: The other day I was trying to make someone a pc out of old bits and pieces I acquired. It was all up and running and I decided to flash the BIOS because it was still on v1.1 and the last one was 1.6. So, new BIOS and utility on the floppy, boot up to floppy, into DOS. Delete old BIOS? Yes. INstall new BIOS? Yes. "Cannot read from the source file or disk. (A)bort, (R)etry, (F)ail?" ARGH!! One dead motherboard. I've flashed the BIOS on quite a few machines but that's the first time I've ever had that happen and it wasn't a nice feeling.

So, please be very careful. A dead old bits and bobs pc doesn't really matter but I would really hate that to happen to my car!
