Brakes extra effort
Hi all i replace all my pads fron and rear and new handbrake cables fully greased and calipers moving freely even passed the MOT 2 weeks ago however i dont know if im being paranoid but it seems my brakes are sharp for abotu half inch pedal movement but for anymore stopping power i have to give it quite a bit more xtra force.

Re: Brakes extra effort
Have you bled the brakes recently? May be worth doing.
There may be crud on one of the pistons in the calipers causing it to stick, I assume the sliding pins are ok and copper slipped from what you said?

Oh just a thought, did you file down the edges of the pads so that they slide freely in the caliper? I've had to do this on every set I've fitted.

On the sides at the top where the pins go through. There are a couple of "horns" sticking out and they bind in the caliper. It probably makes no difference on perfectly clean calipers but if they're a little worse for wear then filing them down a bit helps the pads slide freely.Gary406 wrote:were do you file them teamy ? i'm changing my disc and pads very soon
