laguna splitter pics needed

Post by no2lurch »

i am seriously considering a laguna spliter for my silver d9 estate.

i need some pics please to convince me to get down the scrap yard.

i know people fix them on with self tappers and washers, but i think i would use penny washers with small nuts and bolts - any thoughts?

i've heard of that photo. i'd like to see some pics of the attachments too - there seems to be loads of screws in the underside of my bumper and i want to see how these are 'avoided' with the laguna splitter.

i used a joiners tool to do the holes in the bumper.

its a small tool that does the pilot holes in the wooden doors, very sharp on the end bit like a mini screwdriver

and 3/4 inch self tap screws, and that held it in place really solid . it will definately not be coming off without brout force

i would also recommend putting a scre every 5inch , first time i did it i only put a screw every 15inch
and you end up seeing a gap through on a bright summers day
this time with my new splitter i will put a screw every 5inch
and use a hair dryer to heat up the side bits so it flexes a bit better why i screw it up as they are not 100% perfect

Think I'm gonna be slightly different now and get an espace splitter!

The espace splitter is a little bit lower and a little bit rarer

I used stainless self tappers and cup washers, it's fine but I have got one corner a little loose at the moment where I curb bashed it  At the edges I took the fixings out of the bumper then re-fitted them through the splitter, have a look, you'll know what I mean.

I think if I was going to do it again I'd try to find one that doesn't have the vents :?

Just for good measure...

Espace splitter is 2 inches shorter overall. Asked a few splitter sellers for measurements yesterday. Most were too damn lazy & 1 was just ignorant replying with "ARE YOU GOING TO BUY ? ?", but the one with the Espace splitter did measure it & it was 82 inches - Gary measured Laguna one yesterday at 84.5 inches.

is this the width of the splitter or does it include the bits where its bent round the corners?

so laguna splitter is best for 406 as it meets the edges of the bumper pretty good

another quick question... in the intersts of being able to go back to the standard look, will the mounts for the standard splitter cause any problems? i mean does it need to be removed?
