New car bought..

Post by adamr8965 »

... on Saturday I bought a new family car and its not a 406, I went for a Volvo V70 T5 AWD. I collected it from Manchester and its a ex police traffic car, They had put back in the normal Volvo cd player. It comes with full 12mths mot and 12mths tax as well, and for a bargin price of £1995.
I need a big car and wanted something different from a 406 as I already have one. It goes well, still has the police force engine chip and remap and its currently putting out around 330bhp, a little more than the 1.9td 406 :D
It flies on the motorway and the best bit is everybody I caught up in the outside lane moves over :D speedy.
Sounds good for a Volvo, well more like a jet fighter on full boost.

Draw backs???

MPG is not very good.

Overall very happy so far, although the black lab looked a little worried in the boot.

If you try hard enough you can get the 2.3 T5's down to 1mpg!
The newer 2.5 T5's like my old mans are a tiny bit more frugal
Hope you enjoy but I'd take that 330bhp with a pinch of salt. You'd be lucky to be running 300bhp! Get it on a dyno and find out :D

I could take it and find out not sure were the nearest 4wd dyno is to east yorkshire, the 2.4t put around 250bhp standard so a chip and map, yeah your about 300 ish
I looked at the trip computer before resetting it and the police average was 11.7 mpg mines a bit better at 22mpg.

Yesi would think so £170 for a pair of front tyres and it's £100 a side for the ball joints as they need to be pressed into position

Nowt hard about pressing ball joints in. Just stick the jack under the wishbone and place the wishbone under ther hub and jack it up. The pressure between the front suspension and the wishbone will bush the balljoints into place :D It's how I do the Focus :)

New pic's of my motor are here http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/adamr8965/

So far it's needed a ball joint and top strut mount, and four tyres.

Plus endless trips to the petrol station.

I love driving this and my 406 but this puts a much bigger smile on my face.

Cracking!

Always liked the big volvos.

Said to the other half that if winters keep getting worse and if we move out to the sticks in the next few years we may look into getting something like a 4x4 Volvo or Subaru saloon or estate.

Yep big Volvos are great, But avoid petrol ones they drink petrol. My T5 is managing around 24mpg.
