Was tempted by a C5 exclusive automatic. Before I decided to fix up what I have before jumping into another world of unknown issues.
So off to the garage on Tuesday to get the engine mount / judder on low throttle thing fixed.
Going to bite the bullet and get the doors paintwork patched up professionally at some point too.
Anyone had any work done before and know of a ballpark figure for 2 doors in a metallic blue colour (KMWC)?
Anyone know a good paintwork guy around Belfast?

my uncle had his golfs 4 doors, bootlid, and wings resprayed when he bought it for £400 at a place in dungannon, just on the end of the M1 beside the big car showroom.

Re: Paintwork
my mate next door has a 02 plate C5 exclusive. and to be honest its a shed
it looks like a 4x4 when he drives down the street think his air suspension is nacked
also wen he revs it to about 2.5k revs there is a huge hiss sound i think its the turbo as exhaust gases rise from the back of the engine when bonnet is open
probably not all are like his but its only done 150k miles

Re: Paintwork
i know someone with quite a mid range model and still its very well equipped, over a 406 it has bigger storage boxes, dual zone climate control, side sun visors, and bigger seats. But the plastic quality was porer and the dash design not as driver orientated as the 406.

That might be a matter of opinion, the original C5 looked like a half-eaten ice cream, the C5II was a bit of an improvement but the C5 X7 is very nice, I often see a black estate and I'd swap it for my D9 any day. True, it's no coupé but there's no comparison to the blobfish look of current Pugs.

That's quite a good price actually. Is it beside that Saltmarine "Car^es"?FarmerPug wrote:my uncle had his golfs 4 doors, bootlid, and wings resprayed when he bought it for £400 at a place in dungannon, just on the end of the M1 beside the big car showroom.
The suspension is hydropneumatic. People get put off by it because it's different. However renewing the spheres on a Xantia was a 20 minute job. Think changing 4 oil filters and that's it! Easier than mucking about with springs.Gary406 wrote:my mate next door has a 02 plate C5 exclusive. and to be honest its a shed

Very comfortable. Bentley used to licence the system.
The engines are the same Peugeot engines as 406/407s, HDis and petrols. So like the 406, if they've been looked after they'll go on for years, and a knackered one is best avoided!
I've been in a mk2m the suspension control seemed like something off a cheap videogame controller, even compared to the lever in a Xantia.FarmerPug wrote:i know someone with quite a mid range model and still its very well equipped, over a 406 it has bigger storage boxes, dual zone climate control, side sun visors, and bigger seats. Took a notion for a comfortable automatic. Must be getting old.lozz wrote:The C5 thats a citreon aint it![]()

The mk1 is a bit of an ugly stick-beaten effort. That's why I initially got a 406 instead. The facelift tidies it up and the new one is a good looking car, if a little Germanic (base models have steel spring suspensionsteve_earwig wrote:That might be a matter of opinion, the original C5 looked like a half-eaten ice cream, the C5II was a bit of an improvement but the C5 X7 is very nice, I often see a black estate and I'd swap it for my D9 any day. I have decided to fix up SCuZ (the name of my 406

No its not beside saltmarine car^es its beside donnellys motorstore, about another 5 mile down the road.
The control lever is indeed a cheap videogame controller, its biggest problem is it automatically hunkers back down.
but the 406 is a much much better drivers car, its still way more comfortable than anything from germany, but just not as wafty as a c5 which can make some people travel sick. That place is very good at bodywork.
