i see on ebay valeo solid conversion kits, with 1 year guarentees, aint it valeo who puts in the clutch to begin with so its just as good as out of the pug dealer.

£275 it cost after several bolts broke holding the subframe on!

the judder and squeek has stopped, pedal is in the middle not at the top, i can tell the bloody differance between a DMF and a soild


all this DMF is a load of bollox, the bloody FH volvos i work on have soild fly wheels and std clutch set ups, and they have over 400bhp
dealer ' lets scare them if you have over 90bhp you need a DMF or everything will explode, and when it does we can charge them £700 to change it more money for us'

just been on a 360mile trip including sitting on the m25 for 40mins in rush hour, used 1/4 tank, 58.9mpg, ran perfect

I think it is the dmf that is supposed to explode if it fails . I Dont think
i have ever heard of anyone on here suffering a failed dmf so kind of makes
you wonder where it originates from .

The theory says it's to smooth out the impulses from the engine's individual power strokes - the slower it runs, the more you need it, therefore it's under maximum stress as the engine starts or stops. Read somewhere the reaction can snap the crankshaft.

Since I can't save anything to speak of converting mine, I will stick with the DMF if I have to do any clutch / flywheel work.

I'll post up some pictures next week after we have replaced the DMF on my 407 2.0 136 HDi so anyone can see what a damaged one looks like.

The dealers agreed with my diagnosis of a failing DMF on my car, although the rattling/vibrating hasn't been there today

i would think, thats driver error, to many wheelspins and banging the clutch in

its been 4 weeks since i heard a peep out of my dmf, the car has repaired itself.

quick update,

car still running perfectly fine, even done around 2k miles since it was fitted,

bloody heater stopped working last week, fixed today tho, it dropped the feed from the igntion switch

I've done this job on 4 of these cars now & never had to drop the subframe? It's a bit of a scrat but its better & quicker & I've even done it on a mates driveway with a trolley jack & stands.
All the cars are fine & the only difference is slightly more vibration at low revs & when accelerating hard.
