Feeling old!

Post by Blue406 »

Gawd!

I've taken to writing down my memories. It all started when an old friend of mine e-mailed me in April. We got to talking and then realised, we hadn't seen or heard from each other since we were 12 in 1992. The penny dropped and we realised... Fracking hell, that's 14 years ago!

So, that started me off on a mission to recall my memories and put them down on paper. After writing a few pages of stuff, I proof read and then it hit me. I was writing about things that I clearly remember, and it all took place between 19 and 21 years ago.

That scares the utter sh*t out of me!

Its funny you say that.

Because nowadays I wish I had stuck at writing a journal when I was younger. I remember trying when I was 10. But, well... at that age you found much more fun things to do. And well, I basically never got into the habit. I often wonder what it'd be like to go through a journal, had I kept at it. I wonder what it'd be like to see how I felt and what I did every day. Would be fascinating I'm sure.

Well, I'm trying to make up for it all now. As I mentioned in my thread starter, I'm writing all my memories and experiences down. I'm jokingly calling it an auto biography. LOL

Its proving one hell of a journey. As I write, I relive the experiences. Some of them so crystal clear, its as if they happened yesterday. Some good, some Bad.
My friends are telling me to take it to a publisher onces I'm done. The title "A Soldiers Son" has been suggested.

But still, I can't shake off that feeling of getting old as I write it.

Bloody hell! HA HA... small world indeed. A fellow Pads Brat :) If we had a respected users list or something... you'd be on it in a jiffy :)
Fond memories of those white buses, I tell ya, fond Memories.

I value my friends of today a lot. They helped me settle down. Coming from a Pads Brat life into Civilian life was a hell of a culture shock at 13 years old... It knocked me for six for a good year.

I have always believed, one must take the bad with the good.

But, I suppose we can all claim to be different to the child we once were... eh?

Having said that.... I recently got found by a friend I hadn't seen nor heard from since 1992. Our friendship has literally picked up from where we left off 14 years ago. Its totaly amazing.

But damn,.... that makes me feel old. LOL
