loud running engine. timing?

anybody out there correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the third piston kick in at 3200rpm?
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
Hmmmm, straight 6 goodness!

Not overly obtrusive when cruising, but bit more throaty when putting my foot down

when my exhaust was off, i am ashamed to admit but i did enjoy the noise, at times it was embarassing but sometimes i loved planting my foot down and get an almighty roar it wasnt sporty though
