While I have Been Away. Please update me?

Post by rapport25 »

Hi guys,

Teamster,Welly,Puggy, Steve etc.. just to name a few

I dont spend as much time as I would like on this great forum 8) . Due to work being so crazy etc... And thanks to Welly I have got really into my detailing. I have done around 12 cars last year. Fo favours not money. A friend has a garage and I got a free service and tyres for my Passat.

Please see the attached:-

http://www.meguiars.co.uk/gallery/a38/p1093

Also my own car.

http://www.meguiars.co.uk/gallery/a37/p1083,0

And my mates Fiesta.

http://www.meguiars.co.uk/gallery/a33/p1009,0

I'm seriously considering changing carears and setting up full time.

So guys whats new in your lifes?

Rappy.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the welcome back  .

My change to german seems to be paying off. One year of ownership and the passat has been 100% reliable  .

Hi Teamster, good to hear from you mate 8) .

Congrats on the new born!!!. And thanks for the comments. I have gone a bit car crazy!!! I'm considering buying a leaf blower to dry the car due to introducing scratches and swirls washing it. Mrs Rappy can even spot swirls and scratches

I have spent a fair bit on my detailing hobby :cheesy: . Snow foam lance paint depth gauge. D/A polisher and so on... I'm sure Welly will be interested to discuss detailing when he is back online  .

I see you still have your pug and bike?

Yep, both going strong! (Touch wood) :D
I'll be chopping in the tubby at some point this year, there's not enough room with 3 bairns :(
I want a nice 406 estate, I'm undecided yet (and I can't afford it but that's another thing entirely!!)

Hello there! Glad to hear the Kubelwagen's doing you proud

Not much changes, people come, people go, Welly's still on Planet Ovlov and I still know depressingly little about the car I drive :frown:

Off to look at the detailing, unfortunately stuff I can't actually buy here usually just depresses me

If I wanted an estate on a budget it would be a 406 :D . I have been considering one for the 2 dogs. Me and Mrs Rappy have been looking at moving. She has said she does not want an estae. She want a VW Toureg

We have a 12 yr old chucky choc labradoor and a crazy 6 mth old labradoodle. For me if we decied to move we should go somwhere simular to are current set up close to parks and woods to take the dogs on a decnt walk. No change in car needed

Hi Rappy!

Funny you should mention detailing, I'm just awaiting delivery from the interweb of this:

1 x Meguiars Quik Clay Detailing System
1 x Meguiars Mirror Glaze - #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner / Conditioner
1 x Sonus Der Wunder Applicator, Pkg/2
1 x Chemical Guys - Maxi Suds II - 16oz
1 x 3M 3434 Automotive Masking Tape 25mm x 50m
1 x Forever Black - Bumper & Trim Cleaner and Reconditioner << not sure on this one's effectiveness
1 x Elite Snow Foam 5 Litre

:arrowu: Note: sorry Bailes, I know you said to get other things  :?

I love my collection of stuff now - especially my grit guard bucket I can't believe what that thing catches

I thought about offering to do some neighbours cars and training my 14 year old to do it too, only a thought though :|

Setting up a valeting service you'd have to do some homework as you're likely to encounter some other traders' 'patch' and it could end up in a 'sponges at dawn' kinda stand off

Great to here from you again.

Thanks Welly  Yes the 3m blue detailing tape is excellent. Also If you want to see those scratches and swirls I would buy a brinkman dual xenon swirl light.

Have you purchased a d/a yet? I have a Meguiars G220 and its the best bit of kit I have purchased. So much easier than applying by hand 8)

As for detailing wars I doubt it. I did a rather nice Range Rover met back that was covered in swirls and scratches. Lets just say he is a bit handy  .

I really have been considering a carear change due to only one project running from August which = rappy might be out of a job. :(

What do you do Rappy? I am in construction-related specialist sub contracting and it is bloody dire out there......there's firms going pop all over the place at the moment.

And in other news......No I haven't tried a whizzy mopper doo dad - I'm afraid I'll damage the paint......I ought to get one and practice on her indoors car  :supafrisk: Clay barring gives a nice finish and makes the polish and wax go on real easy 8)

I manage rail projects. We currently have 5 projects but this will soon be 1 :( . I have been applying for new jobs. But finding a new job with the right level of pay and perm is not so easy :(

Welly I suggest doing some reading. I have been a member on the Meguiars forum for a while. The uk one is not so good. I have only posted my pics on there shinning stars to get a free microfibre towel

Please read the attached.

Mr Stoops is a legend in America. I'm rather addicted to this forum

Welly, a d/a wont damge the paint. A rotary will hence I have a d/a and get great results 8) As seen in my pics.
