406 1.8 petrol bottom radiator hose / conrad fitting

Post by maglite1 »

hello all , the bottom hose on my radiator is leaking , as anyone who has worked on one of these hoses will know the push fit fitting on the ond of the hose is corroded to nothing , ive done some searching on fleabay and cannot find a replacement .

has anyone come up with an alternative to replacing the complete hose as im not going to pay in region of £75 for it , does anyone know of a hose that has the same conrad fitting that i can possibly cut off and slice to existing hose .

if i had a spare radiator to play about with im thinking of getting a metal pipe copper or something that is a tight fit into the plastic housing where the push fit goes and heating the pipe up before i pushed it in so it melts plastic around the area to the metal pipe , it could be strengthened with some form or araldite , i just know i have a slight water leak and i have to face it but not looking forward to it .

I think Teamster used a top hose for a turbo. Crikey, 83 quid, not as bad as the 2.1 but still pretty rough.

Yep, cut a good conrad off a top hose and do something like this:

The conrad fittings are all the same as far as I can tell. Good luck with it and make sure you squirt some silicon in the joint before you tighten up the jubilee clips :)

Really? I got mine of a 1.9td, maybe someone with servicebox access can do a cross check for you.
Failing that it's out with the vernier!
