D8 Coupe vs Normal D8 406 wiring looms?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I always though maybe a 2.1, uses V6 springs on the saloon so...

There's so many variations though, it looks like it's possible to put the td wiring loom under the bonnet and mate it to the central loom but there's so many RPOs in the way you'd have to be very careful which one you got. Oh, and they're almost all no longer supplied so you can't get what you get and go to Pug for the right loom because they haven't got it. And what would the insurance company say? :?

I was thinking of getting a 1.9TD saloon for a donor car and just swapping the looms over. And then once it's all bedded in maybe swap it for a 2.1 lump.
Dosen't seem like it's going to be that easy though :(

Were you planning on transferring the saloon bits to a coupe shell, or doing it the traditional way?

Plan was to get a 1.9TD GLX Saloon or estate. And just swap the looms and engine etc over. Maybe the fuel tank and lines etc. And just snip away whats not needed for the rear leccy windows.
Dosen't seem like it's going to be as easy as I have it planned out in my head though :(

If I was to go ahead with it then I would get a coupe first. Strip it down to nothing and rebuild it from the begining.
I do have the money and the premises to do it.
But would I really want to be chucking £5k~ at a D8 coupe?
It would be different. And with a little fettling it would be fast. And providing I was to get the bosch pump rebuilt I would run it on waste veg oil!

Don't chuck £5k+ at a D8 Coupe, chuck about £2k at a D9 HDi 2.2

You'll end up with a drop-dead gorgeous, fuel-efficient car that has a nice amount of torque and power from the offset, which you can then tune up as much as you want - de-FAP, remap, then look at nicer things like bigger turbo / intercooler, performance brake discs/pads, braided brake lines, 17 or 18in alloy wheels. You can spend up to £5k and get so much more car than you could with the old 1.9TD lump, and you're more likely to be insured to drive a (mostly) standard car without having to sell your kidneys to be able to afford it. As I've previously said, insurance companies are utter bastards.

I'm with Graeme on this one - the coupe's got the DW12 for a reason. This would avoid the coupe club, 'paying you a visit', too.
