Re: strut brace
Feel definatley went up, you notice it for the first hour then you get used to the new better setup, feedback is much better, but also car is much tighter in corners.

Re: strut brace
thought i would ask here rather than make a new post..
is the bar on the strut brace bent for a reason ie for strenth ..
i,ve got a strut brace for £20 and im thinking of fitting it to the car then get my mate (welder) to cut the bent bar off the brackets and weld me a new straight bar across.obviously the new straight bar will be made to the same lenth of the bent original bar and welded into the same position
would this work ? the idea is so it doesnt catch on the bonnet
my engine wouldnt be a problem as it doesnt stick up like the V6 lump in the coupe

Re: strut brace
Mine did foul the bonnet, but only the sound deadening material. There were no problems with it fitted.
It also fits my Coupe (as it is now in there, rather than in the saloon).

Re: strut brace
Is it not standard fit on a 2.2 coupe then? I thought all coupes had the strut brace.

Re: strut brace
No, just the V6 lump, apparently. Maybe the 2.2HDi has it, as that's a big heavy lump too, especially with the intercooler and all the additional plumbing needed for that. I seem to recall something about the HDi getting Brembo brakes and sharing the same front springs as the V6, but I could be wrong there too.
The 2.0 and 2.2 engines are smaller and lighter.

Re: strut brace
Could be right there about the brakes as 2.2 HDi saloons & estates always have the same wheels as the V6 models rather than the standard Corail alloys.highlander wrote:No, just the V6 lump, apparently. Beat the sh*t out of it using a hammer - that's what other people have done, apparently with success.

Re: strut brace
I've got an alternative suggestion. Mine doesn't seem to foul the bonnet. If it fouls anything, it would be fouling the padded sound deadening. If NH's strut brace was fouling bare metal, then would it be a simpler solution to fit the sound deadening to your bonnet?
