What a pisser!

I was only under there looking at my extremely low tread on the o/s rear tyre when I noticed the zorst, had a little pokey pokey with a screw driver and revealed the true horror of it all.

Both on the centre (most expensive) section aswell

See where the owner had sprayed Red Oxide in a vein attempt to mask or otherwise try to help the problem  (was me actually in the winter)

I suppose I'd better look into replacing it and the tyre, and the clutch, and the flywheel   that will be interesting with no money to hand whatsoever.

Price isnt that bad, cost me £100 from Peugeot including both clamps. Very easy to change yourself too.

Edit: oops, forgot about your clutch and flywheel fun. Time to visit a scrappies and hoik a good one from there.

It was strange yesterday, the car had not been washed for 3 weeks and looked sorry for itself.

Add this to the recent problems I've found and the whole thing seemed like a shitter, and a worthless one at that.

BUT, yesterday afternoon, I cleaned the car up (the full monty treatment) and all seems well again now, as at the end of the day the car is still a good'un and if I rectify all these bits I will happily run it for another few years I reckon.

I will ride with it as it is for now as I am kind of hoping for a little financial boost soon so I will let you know how it goes.

What a machine.......

definitely worth getting it sorted. I spent loads on mine in the past 3 years and I haven't regretted it at all. Yes, a newer car will probably need less maintenance.. but for how long?

Keeps this one going and it won't let you down!

I was in the same position as you earlier this year, it was just one thing after another...

Bottom pulley
cambelt and tensioners
full service
tyres
seizing caliper (sorting that one this week)
then my centre section blew too (exactly same place as yours)

All of the above came along in the same 4-5 week stretch, my poor wallet

All good in the end though

Edit: I trawl the bay of E regularly for new bits, I've got my eye on a genuine radiator at the moment, don't need one, but I know its a potential problem. Its at £10 with no bids, if it goes for sily cheap I'll have it and store it just incase. Same way I ended up with an EGR valve for £12.50 and engine mounts for £10 each. Got a new fuel lift pump under my bed too :cheesy:, if I never need them then I'll flog them when I sell the car, if I do need them then its all good (and cheap).

Welts,

can you weld ?? or do you know anyone that can ? You could get a section of mild steel welded in place, saving you a small fortune, failing that call QED or SDL for your exhaust parts you'll be surprised at the cost :)

As for your tyre, get them online you will save a bundle on them ! do a search for tyres in google, there are so many companies offering cheap tyres ! * by cheap I mean good makes cheaper than anyone else !

Agreed, I used mytyres last time for a pair of Goodyear Hydragrips £42 each delivered then £8 at local quick fit for fitting. The simian at quickfit scoffed at me "we could of done those for the same price by the time you've paid for delivery as well". He shut up when I told him how much they were :cheesy:. They wanted about £100 a corner

I wonder if these tyres places will start getting pissed off with all the ''mytres'' customers?

Not as pissed off as us customers get, when we realise we're paying way over the odds :cheesy:
