No. Earlier at the lights was waiting in Lane 2 to go ahead, Lane 1 is a temporary lane but there seems to be a gentlemen's agreement amongst those queueing that it is mostly used for traffic to get to the turn left give way sliproad.
Except an Audi flies up it, then on the other side of the lights at the short merge, barges into a space and on his way.
But I know what you mean about Passat drivers. Seems to be most things German brings out the worst in drivers.

Passat and A4 drivers are the same, except the A4 drivers are a bit wealthier. They will still make sure their radiator grille is touching your towbar, but usually when i get tailgated by such prats i do the middle finger in the rear view mirror and some times it works.
The only german car drivers who dont do this are merc drivers unless its a merc jeep.
My sister has an A4 2.5 V6 diesel, yesterday it would not start, I had a look with my cheapo diagnostic machine but couldn't find the cause, she had it towed into Audi just around the corner....the fault is diagnosed as the high pressure pump faulty....total cost ....£2,400.
They said the timing belt should be done at the same time....£400 extra.

All dealers charge a fortune for this kind of thing, what worries me is that it seems they're completely wrong half the time, but you still get charged megabucks. (I sincerely hope all goes well with your sisters car). [/rant]

That's the characteristic clatter of a direct injection diesel who's unit injectors can't manage pre & post injection, unlike the common rail designs they spent years criticising, before quietly adopting themselves thinking no one noticed.
