will the car pass the mot with a hole in the sill? The hole is about the size of a 5p in the middle of a dent

clean it up. fill it in with body filler and smooth over with sand paper once dry of course ...
then the MOT man will never see a hole .. it should be a simple job if its only the size of a 5pence peice

sounds like a plan that does gary.. so it will pass with the dented sill but not with a hole in it??
my own fault wasnt happy with the trolley jack yesterday so lowered it down but hadnt moved an axle stand far enough away and through the sill it went

well at least you was using axle stands mate. it could have been your leg under there changing brakes ...
good to see safety 1st ...
how big is the dent ? i would fill it all smooth it same shape it was originally and paint over it . you wont see the paint under the sill ..
